Eva Anerrapsi (b. 1992, Athens, Greece) is a visual artist currently based between Athens and Berlin, De. She studied graphic design at Vakalo Art & Design College and visual arts at the Athens School οf Fine Arts. Throughout her practice, she has developed a visual language emerging from the tension as well as the irregular interrelations between analogue and digital sensibilities. This (dis)junction has since been elaborated through writing, photography, and cinematography as intuitive tools for making abstractions palpable, while elaborating on perception, imaging systems, and material presentiment. Through sequential bodies of work, she seeks to reveal simple structures, and unapparent nuances within a complex universe of things. Using time based media, and handmade gestures, she attempts to capture lyrical landscapes and create abstract, associative narratives that arise through technological mediation and interfacing. She is interested in their emotional imprints and material residues within the ordinary. In many ways, her projects are structured within a certain present of a place, and deal with themes of loneliness and technology, city and nature, surface and depth, along with the non-regulated dreaminess of erotic expectation that we find in poetry, against the randomness of everyday reality. In June 2022, she held her first solo exhibition at Closing Soon, an artist-run space in Athens. She has participated in exhibitions, publications and film festivals in Europe and the U.S.. She has been awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS in 2022.
